We booked this cruise as a last minute exciting deal. This would be our 10th cruise with Celebrity and our first time taking advantage of an “after final payment” fire sale (clearing cabin inventory).
Cabin Selection: Sky Suite 6121
We initially booked an Aqua Class cabin for an outstanding price. AQ guarantees were going for a base rate of $925 CAD (~ 700 USD) per person + taxes/port fees. Within approximately 10 days, we were assigned our cabin; an AQ1 category. Our initial cabin placement was undesirable, so we switched to a better location on the ship. We did this a couple of times, as people were moving around, taking advantage of last minute deals. We finally ended up in one of the back 5 Aft-facing AQ1 cabins and were quite happy to settle in.
Then! we received an email from Celebrity offering us the opportunity to bid on a higher category. Initially, we decided against doing so, as we were quite happy with our AQ placement. However, temptation crept in and took over. We placed a bid, slightly over minimum on the Sky Suite category. It was accepted within 48 hours. Our new cabin was Sky Suite 6121 and we were excited to see how the cabin and Retreat Lounge (formerly Michael’s Club) were refurbished, as well as experiencing the new Suite Retreat Deck on 11 Forward.
